Pomersbach breaks collarbone

PERTH, July 13: Western Australian batsman Luke Pomersbach has broken his collarbone after a surfing accident.

Pomersbach, who won the 2008 Bradman Young Cricketer of the Year award, crashed shoulder-first into a sandbar, according to an AAP report.

He had surgery last weekend and will be unable to hold a bat or run for up to six weeks. However, he is expected to be fit in time for the start of the Australian domestic season in October.

Pomersbach made his Twenty20 debut for Australia in 2007 when he was called up as a late replacement for Brad Hodge.—Agencies
