Rain ruins routine on second day

Published July 14, 2008

LAHORE, July 13: Rain continued to lash Lahore and several other cities in Punjab for the second day on Sunday, badly affecting routine life.

Though, in Lahore, the amount of rain was less than that of Saturday’s, it still flooded low-lying areas like Lakshmi Chowk, Circular Road, Misri Shah and some areas of Samanabad.

Civic agencies nevertheless cleared the rainwater with extra efforts and machinery mainly because of the directives given by Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday.

The Met office reported that the rain pattern was, however, not uniform throughout in the city and its intensity was fluctuating in scattered areas. It recorded 28mm of rain at the airport and the downtown and just 6mm at its Jail Road observatory. Similarly, Allama Iqbal

Town received much less rainfall than the areas on both sides of The Mall.
