Father, son held with opium

SHEIKHUPURA, July 13: Khanqah Dogran police on Sunday arrested a man and his son and recovered about 1kg fine quality opium from their possession at Salar Bhattian village.

Reports said police received information that Habib, a blind man, and his son Abad Ali, a class-X student, were involved in drug trafficking.

The police raided their house at Salar Bhattian, recovered the contraband and arrested the father and the son.

Police spokesman Mujahid Abbas said the accused used to supply opium in different parts of Sheikhupura and Nankana Sahib.

BURN INJURIES: Three labourers of a textile mills sustained critical burn injuries when a fire erupted in its mixing section here on Sunday on Faisalabad Road.

Reports said the blaze erupted at the mixing section of Ayesha textiles mills owing to a short circuit as a result Qasim, Tanvir, and Nasib suffered injuries. The loss was estimated at Rs400,000.

The injured were shifted to DHQ hospital. Bekhi police are looking into the matter.

Injured: Eight passengers, including four women, were injured on Sunday when two vans collided head-on on Bharian Road.

Those injured were identified as Nasir, Azmat, Abbas, Younas, Shamim, Shazia, Perveen and Asma. They were shifted to Mayo Hospital, Lahore, where the condition of three of them was stated to be critical. Bhekhi police are looking into the matter.
