TIMERGARA: Two FC men injured in Timergara attack

By Haleem Asad

TIMERGARA, July 13: Two personnel of Frontier Constabulary were injured when unidentified persons ambushed a police vehicle near Government College Timergara on Saturday night, official sources told Dawn.

Personnel of police and Frontier Constabulary were going back to Balambat after a routine patrol at 1:15am when unidentified attackers fired a rocket and lobbed a hand grenade at their vehicle. The patrolling party retaliated and exchanged fire with the attackers, but they escaped.

Two FC men identified as Abdul Qayyum and Shafiullah sustained injuries in the attack.

They were taken to DHQ hospital where their condition was stated to be stable.

In a similar attack on June 26, two constables had lost their lives when a police mobile was attacked in the Rani area near Timergara.

TWO KILLED: Two persons, including an Afghan boy, were killed and another was injured when two rival groups clashed over a land dispute in Anwarabad village on the jurisdiction of Balambat police station on Sunday, residents and police said.

Zarawar Khan told police that his rivals Hameed Gul, Wahid Gul, Zeenul Abideen and Izzat Gul opened indiscriminate fire on his sons, resulting in the death of Pervez Khan and injuries to Jehangir Khan. An Afghan boy, Izzatullah, who was passing by, was also killed in the firing.
