ISLAMABAD, July 12: In the wake of prevailing law and order situation in the country, an official of the International Cricket Council (ICC) monitored preparation for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy and visited the Ministry of Interior here on Saturday.

Brian Murgatroyd, the ICC media and communications manager, visited the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium and showed his satisfaction over development work in progress at the stadium.

He later visited the Ministry of Interior and was briefed about security plans for the Champions Trophy.

The Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium is one of the three venues where five One-day Internationals including a semi-final of the Champions Trophy will be played from Sept 11 to 28.

“My visit was aimed at observing the development work in progress at the stadium and I am very much satisfied with the pace of work,” Murgatroyd told Dawn.

He pointed out that “it is exciting to learn about the ambitious plans prepared by the PCB for the championship”.

When asked about his visit to the Ministry of Interior, the media manager said, “Yes I have visited the ministry and met the officials who were concerned about security for the event.”

Meanwhile, a PCB official said: “Murgatroyd visited the stadium and showed his satisfaction over the development work of various blocks in progress at the stadium.

“The ICC official also took some pictures of the venue and later visited the Interior Ministry,” he concluded.
