NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: Lecturers continue hunger strike

By Our Correspondent

NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, July 12: Dozens of lecturers of the district appointed on ad hoc basis continued their token hunger strike outside the press club on the fifth consecutive day on Saturday.

The strikers’ leaders Ali Raza Qazi, Khadim Depar, Ghulam Rasool Phul and Aijaz Ali Larik complained that despite announcement by the Pakistan People’s Party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari in Larkana that ad hoc lecturers would be regularised, Sindh government had not issued any orders to regularise their services.

They demanded immediate regularisation of their services.

NEWS CONFERENCE: Secretary of PPP of Kandiaro taluka chapter demanded transfer of EDO of health of Naushahro Feroze at a news conference at the press club here on Saturday.

Ghulam Qadir Jalbani told journalists that EDO Dr Mazhar Hisbani, who was in-charge of rural health centre Bhirya and not a grade-20 officer, was creating problems for the party and insulting doctors, who were performing their duties honestly.

He alleged that medicines for the poor were being sold to private medical stores and ASV, ARV and hepatitis-B vaccines were not available in the hospitals while a large number of health facilities in rural areas were lying closed.

He demanded transfer of the EDO and threatened to launch protest if he was not removed. The EDO could not be reached for comments.
