Kidnapped official found dead

By Our Correspondent

MIRAMSHAH, July 10: A government official who had been kidnapped from North Waziristan in April was found dead on Thursday.

According to sources, the bullet-riddled body of Dr Farrukh Aftab Syed was found in a box on the Esha-Razmak road near Assadkhel, about 35km away from Miramshah.

They said a note found in the box said: “He was an employee of an NGO and spying for America.”

The body was taken to Bannu where an official told Dawn that Dr Farrukh and some of his colleagues had been kidnapped on April 27 when they were returning from North Waziristan after a visit.

The kidnappers later freed all the people except Dr Farrukh.
