European Parliament invites Iftikhar

By Nasir Iqbal

ISLAMABAD, July 10: The European Parliament has invited Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry for an exchange of views on events in Pakistan and the future of the country’s judiciary.

“Following the elections in Pakistan and more recent political developments, such an exchange of views would be an excellent opportunity for members of the European Parliament to hear at first hand what is happening in Pakistan and to learn how you see the key issues concerning the future of Pakistan’s judiciary,” a letter written to the deposed chief justice by Mr Jacek Saryusz-Wolski, chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs (European Parliament), said.

The communication is a follow-up of a May 21 letter written by the European Parliament president to the deposed chief justice.
