Inquiry into death of child in hospital
By Our Correspondent
MIRPURKHAS, July 10: An inquiry into the death of a four-year-old child, Asadullah Mangrio, at a local private hospital continued here on Thursday.
The father of the deceased child, a resident of taluka Sindhri, Phul Mangrio, met EDO health Dr Khadim Hussain Lakhair and submitted an application and necessary documents related to the treatment of his son requesting him to complete the inquiry at the earliest possible.
The EDO has already collected the record of the child’s treatment from the administration of Fazl-e-Umer Medical Centre and reportedly has completed 80 per cent of the inquiry into this matter.
A counsel for Phul Mangrio, Advocate Ghaffar Narejo, has filed an application in the court of first additional sessions judge of Mirpurkhas against the owner of the hospital, a surgeon and another doctor.
The child was admitted in the hospital about a month ago with urethra infection.
He underwent a minor surgery and during the treatment he was injected a high dose of a medicine as result of which he suffered reaction after which he was discharged from the hospital and he died on July 2, at another private hospital.
The child’s father said that his son’s condition deteriorated after the high dose injection, and a doctor discharged his child, who was in serious condition, hence he took the child to another hospital for treatment.
He said the skin of his child had been totally damaged due to the reaction of the injection.
On the other hand, a meeting of Mirpurkhas chapter of Pakistan Medical Association was held here to discuss the issue.
It criticised what it called the ‘blackmailing’ by the relatives of the deceased child and accused that blackmailers were making politics on dead bodies.
According to a press release, their meeting observed that no doctor could inject wrong medicine.
The meeting demanded protection to the doctors so that they could perform their duties without any fear.
