RAWALPINDI, July 10: Scores of employees working in the Federal Government Educational Institutions (Cantonment/Garrison) for the last three months are awaiting salaries since their induction, it has been learnt.

The staff, including teachers, clerks and lab attendants, were inducted on merit to fill the vacant posts throughout the country.

Sources told this agency that the staff had not received remuneration for their work during the last three months, saying the delay had made them anxious about their future.

When contacted, the controller of military accounts said the employees joined the institutions when a ban on appointments was announced, adding that they could not be paid until the federal government’s new policy in this regard.

Separately, English language teachers in Rawalpindi have warned of a sit-in outside the District Accounts Office to protest against non-payments of dues.—Online
