PESHAWAR, July 10: Condemning the government and parliament over the judges’ issues, the protesting lawyers on Thursday announced to observe black day on Aug 14 if the government failed to restore the pre-Nov 3 judiciary.

Amid boycott of all the courts a general body meeting of the Peshawar High Court Bar Association, chaired by its president Abdul Lateef Afridi, was held which expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation.

The meeting regretted that despite the passage of about five months since the general elections were held there was no noteworthy progress on the issue of the restoration of the judiciary.

Lateef Afridi said that the lawyers’ movement had shaken the ‘most ruthless’ dictator of the country and forced him to shed his uniform. He said that due to the movement he was now confined to the presidency.

Mr Afridi regretted that the government had made commitment with the entire nation that the judges would be restored within 30 days, but they backed out from their words. He asked the masses to conduct the accountability of such rulers who had betrayed their trust.

“Through a well planned conspiracy the Pakhtunkhwa province has been pushed into destruction and the agencies are planning to start a civil war here,” he said adding that all the institutions in the province had been destroyed and the vested interest elements had been pushing the Pakhtun nation into the Stone Age.Mr Afridi believed that the Bara operation was a big joke and was only aimed at hoodwinking the masses from other issues.

He added that the security forces had not recovered any weapons in the operation and had not taken action against any of the wanted person.The PHCBA secretary general Mohammad Essa Khan said that the present Parliament was a big disappointment as people had attached lot of hopes to them which had vanished quickly.
