KARACHI, July 10: An All-Parties Conference organised by the Jamaat-i-Islami has called for a high-level judicial inquiry into the July 7 series of blasts in Karachi and urged the relevant authorities to take strict actions against those responsible for such terrorist activities.

This demand was made by a resolution adopted at the APC, which was held at the Idara Noor-i-Haq on Thursday with the deputy JI chief, Prof Ghafoor Ahmad, in the chair.

The APC also urged the government to announce compensation and financial help to the bereaved families; particularly arrangements should be made to provide treatment to the injured in the blasts.

Besides, the resolution has also asked the government to take notice of the statements about ethnic clash and ethnic slogans.

The resolution noted that Karachi was the jugular vein of Pakistan and conspiracies were being hatched to create law and order situation in the metropolis by triggering ethnic riots.

The APC said that after a long break recent seven blasts had vitiated the nascent peaceful atmosphere of the city.

“There is a coalition government of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and the Awami National Party (ANP) in the province as such maintaining law and order in the city and province was the responsibility of these parties but they had failed miserably in dispensing their responsibility”, it was observed.

The APC observed that May 12, which was a great tragedy in the history of Karachi, could never be forgotten. Had this tragedy been investigated and those responsible for the ghastly events been brought to the book, the July 7 events would never had occurred.

The moot rejected the rumours that the Taliban were on the move in the city and termed it a baseless propaganda.
