TCP tenders for 250,000 tons of wheat
KARACHI, July 10: The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) issued a tender on Thursday to import a total of 250,000 metric tons of wheat to boost buffer stocks.
Bids from pre-qualified foreign suppliers will be received by July 26 and opened the same day, the corporation said in a statement.
The TCP recently bought 516,000 tons of wheat at $409.88 a tonne, cost and freight included.
Pakistan plans to import a total of 2.5 million tons of wheat this year as buffer stocks after domestic output from the 2007-08 crop fell to 21.8 million tons, compared with a target of 24 million tons.—Reuters
