BADIN, July 9: A large number of traders staged a demonstration on Wednesday after a special magistrate imposed Rs100,000 fine on a shop owner and sent him to jail for a month on charges of hoarding and profiteering.

The traders led by Haji Taj Mohammad Mallah, Imtiaz Qazi and others staged a rally, which marched on main roads of the city before gathering at Kazia Wah Canal where they burnt tyres.

Later, the protesters observed a sit-in on Shah Latif road for over an hour.

They demanded immediate release of the shop owner Lachhman.
