Sindh claim trophy: Swimming


PESHAWAR, July 8: Sindh snatched overall trophy by securing 396 points in the third All-Pakistan NWFP Governor Age Group swimming championship at the Adil Khan Pool here on Tuesday.

Sindh got the overall trophy by securing more points while the NWFP finished with high number of gold medals.

Sindh took 18 gold, 17 silver and 18 bronze medals, followed by NWFP taking 19 gold, 12 silver and five bronze medals and secured 375 points.

Islamabad registered 166 points by grabbing three gold, one silver and 12 bronze medals.

In the U-16 category, Sindh won 12 gold, six silver and six bronze medals. In the U-14 category, Sindh claimed two gold, six silver and six bronze medals, while in the U-12 class Sindh captured four gold, five silver and six bronze medals.

4X100m free style U-14: 1. Sindh, 2. NWFP, 3. Islamabad.

200m individual medley U-16: 1. Mazhar Naqvi (Sindh), 2. Aniq Anwar (Sindh), 3. Moid Mustafa (Punjab).

50m butterfly: 1. Junaid (NWFP), 2. Shahid (Sindh), 3. Shameer Babar (Sindh).

50m breaststroke U-14: 1. Osama (NWFP), 2. Adil Khan (NWFP), 3. Shahid (Sindh).

50m free style U-16: 1. Mazhar Naqvi (Sindh), 2. Abdul Moid Mustafa, 3. Bazil (Islamabad).

50m backstroke U-12: 1. Hamza (Sindh), 2. Junaid (NWFP), 3. Afaq (NWFP).
