GHALANAI: Taliban, govt swap prisoners in Mohmand

GHALANAI, July 8: Local Taliban and political administration of Mohmand Agency swapped prisoners here on Tuesday.

Taliban released two personnel of Mohmand Rifles identified as sepoy Ajmeer Afridi son of Sayed Jamal of Khyber agency and Naik Gulzar Ahmed son of Abdul Ghaffar of Matta Mughulkhel, Shabqadar in exchange of Ikram Kanahai of Lakkaro.

The FC personnel were took captives by the Taliban on January 14 from Qayyumabad, Lakkaro, during a clash with security forces. The government had detained three Taliban during fighting.

Local Taliban spokesman Dr Asad confirmed the report and said both sides were willing to exchange prisoners. He hoped return of peace and normalcy to the region after the swap of prisoners.
