KARACHI, July 8: Sindh Health Minister Dr Sagheer Ahmed has ordered an immediate inquiry into the issue of alleged wrong administration of medicine to a woman, reportedly a diabetic and hypertensive, who died at the Civil Hospital Karachi on Tuesday afternoon.

Sources in the hospital said the patient was brought in a semi-conscious condition due to low blood-sugar level to the casualty section of the hospital, where an under-training paramedical staff member administered her some injection other than a sugar heightener.

Talking to Dawn, the minister said he had constituted a two-member committee to investigate and report to him within the next 24 hours, while on the other hand the affected attendants of the deceased had also filed an FIR in the matter.

Strict action will be ordered in case adverse reports of the doctors on duty, paramedical staff and others concerned are received, Dr Ahmad added.
