Plea to solve problems of SU employees
Bureau Report
HYDERABAD, July 7: The Peoples Labour Bureau, Sindh universities, has appealed to Governor, Chief Minister, Education Minister and concerned authorities to direct administration Sindh University to resolve problems of employees.
Speaking at a news conference at the Press Club here on Monday, Bureau organiser, Syed Agha Mehar Ali Shah and other leaders said seniority and merit were being totally ignored in respect to promotions and all decisions were being taken on the basis of “sifarish”.
In flagrant violation of Sindh Governor’s notification, the children of retired and expired employees were not being given employment and almost 400 retired officers were working in the university, blocking promotion of deserving candidates.
Agha Mehar Ali Shah demanded that in accordance with the policies to Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, employees living in the Sindh University Colony should be given proprietary rights, services of retired employees and officers be terminated, Grade-1 to 16 employees be given promotions on the basis of seniority, skilled employees be given promotions after five years of service under the 1996 technical scheme, and temporary employees be regularised on seniority basis after interview and employees association be restored.
He said quarters of the Residence Colony should be repaired and direct recruitment of Grade-1 to 16 employees should be stopped and vacant posts filled under ‘employees’ children quota’. He appealed to the authorities to take notice of the injustices being meted out to Sindh University employees and restore justice to them.
Senior Vice President of the Bureau Sindh Chapter, Lal Bux Kalhoro was also present.
JSQM: Chairman Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz, Basheer Khan Qureshi has condemned the demolition of Sindhi Villages in Karachi and warned that his party and villagers will resist any move to expel Sindhi speaking people from the provincial capital.
In a statement faxed to Dawn here on Monday, he said Pakhtoons were claiming monopoly over Karachi while authorities had taken up cudgel against Sindhi villages. These people living in Karachi for centuries would rather die than leave, Qureshi said.
