Security tightened in Balochistan

By Our Staff Reporter

QUETTA, July 6: Police were placed on high alert throughout Balochistan after Sunday’s suicide attack in Islamabad.

Heavy contingents of police and other law-enforcement personnel were deployed at sensitive places on Sunday night.

Quetta police chief Mohammad Akbar said that vehicles entering and leaving the city were being thoroughly checked. Police have also been deployed on main intersections, patrolling has been increased in and around the city and senior officials have been directed to effectively monitor security arrangements.

On Friday, a bomb explosion in Manan Chowk had left a girl dead and 13 other people injured. Police had foiled another attack by defusing a bomb attached to a motorcycle in Mezan Chowk area.

“Police are interrogating three persons arrested in connection with the Manan Chowk blast,” an official said.
