LAHORE, July 6: Seeing more complainants at Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s open court at his Model Town camp office, it has been decided to restructure the building to make room for a mini-auditorium there to accommodate around 350 people at a time, Dawn has learnt.

Officials say a request to the effect has been made as on Sunday around 2,500 people were present in the open court.

They say as the chief minister is unable to attend the rising number of complainants in his three-hour open court, he has directed the establishment of three to four more desks to sort out the cases and referring to him only the serious most ones requiring a major decision. The extra desks are likely to start working in a week.

Also, Mr Sharif got annoyed with the Model Town SP when the latter failed to submit a report about the accused in a murder case roaming at large.

The chief minister directed the police officer to submit the report by the next open court (to be held on Thursday) or face suspension from service.

An elderly woman, of Hafizabad, complained police had not arrested the murderers of her son. Mr Sharif phoned Gujranwala DIG Zulfiqar Cheema and directed him to ensure the arrest of the murder accused. He also arranged transport for the woman so that she could reach the Gujranwala DIG office.

He said that he would prove himself as chief servant of the masses by providing them justice and uprooting land grabbers.

He said he would also ensure that the accused was brought to justice immediately as the poor people having no channel to raise their voice did not feel themselves insecure. Most of the complaints the chief minister received were about cases of land grabbing, kidnapping, murder and torture of women.
