Six ‘felons’ killed in two encounters

OKARA, July 5: Four robbers were killed in a two-hour encounter with police at Quaid-e-Azam Chowk near Miraj Colony of Depalpur city on Saturday evening.

Police had a tip about the entry of the robbers to Depalpur and later an encounter with them at Quaid-e-Azam Chowk. More police reached the scene after the encounter started.

Three of the robbers were identified as Murtaza, Nasir and Amin, while the fourth had yet to be identified. They were killed in the shootout, which continued for two hours. Police said Murtaza and Nasir were wanted in more than 50 cases. Later, the bodies of all four robbers were sent to Depalpur city police station.

JHANG: Two proclaimed offenders were killed while another was injured, what police claimed, in a gunplay that lasted close to four hours near Portwan Police on Saturday.

The Chiniot Sadar SHO received information that three proclaimed offenders, Umardraz, Jaffar Ali and Shahbaz, were hiding in a house. A police party, led by the SHO, raided the hideout, but the criminals opened fire on law enforcers. The police also returned the fire and later succeeded in killing two POs and injuring the third one after a four-hour shootout. Absconders Umardraz and Jaffar were found killed while Shahbaz, who received serious bullet wounds, was arrested. The absconders were wanted in several cases of murder and dacoity.
