CHITRAL: Improving road network top priority: nazim

By Zahiruddin

CHITRAL, July 5: District Nazim Maghfirat Shah has said the road infrastructure will be improved on priority basis to pave the way for development of the district.

Speaking at a ceremony held to inaugurate work on the Torkhow road in the Kaghlusht near Booni here on Saturday, he said the main problem of upper parts of Chitral was the lack of road link, which hampered development. The road project will cost Rs14.5 million.

The nazim also inaugurated blacktopping of 3.5m the Mulkhow road in the Muzhgole village.

He directed the works and services department to ensure completion of the road projects before the start of winter.

POWER CRISIS: MNA from Chitral Shahzada Mohyuddin has alleged that the district nazim’s policies have worsened the power crisis in Chitral.

Speaking at a press conference here on Saturday, he said the district government had disconnected a 2MW line of the national grid for Chitral and linked the city with only a 1MW line of the Reshun power station, which caused the power crisis.

He said the disconnection of Chitral from the national grid had caused power failure in the city, forcing people to resort to protests. He alleged that the district nazim had used provincial Minister Salim Khan for the purpose.

TOKEN STRIKE ENDS: On an assurance of provincial Minister for Population Welfare Salim Khan, jobless youths, who have acquired certificates and training of primary schoolteachers, on Saturday announced to end their token hunger strike they had started 40 days ago.
