KARACHI: Teachers’ recruitmenton merit promised


KARACHI, July 1: The Sindh Minister for Education and Literacy, Pir Mazharul Haq, on Tuesday said that all the genuine problems facing the teachers of the province would soon be resolved.

He was talking to a delegation of Government Secondary Teachers’ Association (GSTA), which called on him at his office.

The minister assured the teachers that the present government would revive the status of the teachers and would resolve their genuine problems as a priority.

Pir Mazhar said that the present government would seek the cooperation of the teachers in the implementation of its education policy.

He said that transparency and merit would be ensured in the recruitment of teachers.

Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Secretary Fazlur Rehman has sought explanation from the provincial secretary, education and literacy department regarding appointments in one of the projects of the department without obtaining prior approval of the competent authority in the wake of a ban on the recruitment.

The chief secretary has asked the secretary to clarify his position.—APP/PPI
