ECB unveils gold sales
FRANKFURT, July 1: The European Central Bank said on Tuesday that it had recently sold 30 tons of gold, on top of 42 tons sold in late 2007 under a central bank agreement.
The sales, which were completed on Monday, conformed to the Central Banks’ Gold Agreement of September 27 2005, which limits gold sales to 500 tons per year during the period between 2004 and 2009.
It was signed by 15 European central banks, including the ECB—AFP
