SIALKOT, June 30: The Sialkot district council on Monday approved the Rs5.64 billion tax-free budget for the 2008-09 fiscal amid uproar and `go Musharraf go’ slogans raised by the opposition.

District Nazim Muhammad Akmal Cheema presented the budget. The house presented the look of a fish market as opposition members threw the budget copies in the air. Members from both the sides started abusing each other in the presence of the female members.

The opposition members pointed out that the district government had provided them with the budget copies just before the start of the budget session.

Giving the details, the district nazim said Rs1.65 billion had been allocated for development schemes.
