HYDERABAD, June 30: An anti-corruption team raided the Secretariat of Tando Alahyar District Nazim Dr Rahila Gul Magsi and office of the EDO Finance and reportedly seized some record, on Monday.

The team led by Assistant Director, Anti-Corruption Establishment, Hyderabad Division, Abdul Wahab Kalwar, accompanied by judicial magistrate and civil judge Shamsuddin Junejo checked the record for many hours.

Ever since the Pakistan People’s Party had come into power, the local chapter of the party was trying its level best to unseat District Nazim but failed to muster the support of required number of votes to table no-confidence motion against her.

Quite a few cases had been registered against her, her brother and former provincial minister Dr Irfan Gul Magsi and her supporters.

Only a couple of days back, she presented the district council budget amidst high security which was adopted by the house. However, after the passage of budget, an attempted murder case was registered against her, her brother and supporters.

When contacted by phone, the district nazim confirmed the raid but said that no prior notice was served. “It was in fact a part of series of vindictive actions initiated against me, my family and supporters of Azad Magsi Ittehad (AMI) ever since installation of PPP government in the province”, she said.
