KARACHI, June 30: The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has increased Umra fare by Rs7,100 making it Rs53,070 for a roundtrip. The new fare has come into effect on July 1.

A spokesman for the national flag carrier told Dawn on Monday that the increase was prompted by the rising oil prices in the international market and inflation.

It was only on June 1 that the PIA announced its decision to readjust the fuel surcharge amid a constant surge in the oil prices at international level.

The decision pushed up the surcharge to Rs6,000 and the Umra fare had ultimately gone up to Rs45,970.
