Prisoners list given to BSF team
LAHORE, June 28: A nine-member BSF Indian delegation crossed Wagah border to attend the quarterly coordination meeting between Pakistan Rangers and the BSF on Saturday.
According to a news release, the meeting was held at JCP Wagah (Pakistan side). The Rangers team was headed by Brig M Qaiser Khan Tareen, deputy director-general, Pakistan Rangers (Punjab), and Indian delegation was led by Shri GS Virk, DIG, BSF, India. The meeting was a part of a mutually agreed programme aimed at taking measures by both forces for the management of border duties. The Rangers presented a list of 196 Pakistanis to BSF who are in various jails of India.
Issues related to inadvertent border crossings, smuggling of contraband items through the Indian fence towards Pakistan, simultaneous coordinated patrolling along the international border as well as repatriation of Pakistani prisoners in Indian jails were discussed.—APP
