Rs2bn budget for Mirpurkhas

MIRPURKHAS, June 28: The district council unanimously approved a balanced budget of Rs2.157 billion for 2008-09 on Saturday.

Convener Dr Zafar Ahmed Kamali chaired the council session.

District Nazim Dr Sughra Junejo presented the budget which showed an income of Rs2,157.224 million against the expenditure of an equal amount.

Dr Sughra said that no new tax was levied in the budget.

The Annual Development Programme of the district stands at Rs364.832 million which is 19.18 per cent higher than the last year’s.

She said that 75 per cent amount of the ADP would be spent on the ongoing schemes while 25 per cent, Rs91.208 million, would be spent on new schemes whose 25 per cent, Rs20.282 million, was set aside for citizen community boards.

Details of sector-wise allocations of development schemes showed that Rs1.814 million was allocated for agriculture, Rs31.019 million for 12 schemes of education, Rs2.661 million for health, Rs219.698 million for 265 schemes of rural development, Rs19.033 million for 57 schemes of physical planning and housing, and Rs6.846 million for new development schemes.—Correspondent
