81 prisoners released

GUJRANWALA, June 28: On the orders of the district and sessions judge, 81 prisoners, including six women, involved in minor cases were released from the central jail on Saturday.

Judge Arshad Mehmood Cheema visited the jail and got prepared a list of prisoners involved in petty cases. Later he ordered their release on his own surety. The judge took a round of the various barracks, jail hospital and kitchen.

He listened to complaints of the inmates. Civil judge Noor Mohammad Dhotar and judicial magistrate Asif Iqbal Chohan accompanied him. The judge directed the superintendent to provide better facilities to prisoners and improve security at the prison.—Correspondent
