Lawyers join PML-N

LAHORE, June 27: Lawyers observed Friday as a black day to condemn delay in the restoration of deposed judges and verdict of the Lahore High Court against the candidature of PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif.

The call to observe the black day was given by the Punjab Bar Council, which included boycotting court proceedings. Though lawyers hoisted black flags on the premises of the Lahore High Court Bar Association and wore black armbands, they did not boycott court proceedings.

LHCBA president Anwar Kamal said the PbBC’s decision to boycott the court proceedings reached the LHCBA office late. Due to the delay in communication, the lawyers could not boycott the proceedings, he said and added that he would talk to the PbBC office-bearers to improve communications.

The LHCBA also passed a resolution warning the coalition government to restore the judges immediately. Later in the evening, the lawyers gathered in front of the main gate of the LHC on The Mall and joined the PML-N demonstration against Nawaz’s disqualification.
