By Our Reporter

RAWALPINDI, June 27: An additional sessions judge (ASJ) here on Friday awarded death sentence to a man for killing a woman in the Saddar Berooni area last year.

ASJ Muhammad Iqbal Malik delivered the sentence to Irfan Amin, who killed the friend of his wife, and imposed Rs100,000 as fine.

In case of non-payment of fine, the convict would undergo six months extra imprisonment. Amin had also injured his wife after killing her friend.

The judge also sentenced the convict to eight years rigorous imprisonment for attempting to murder his wife and imposed Rs25,000 as fine and if he failed to pay the amount, he would be kept in the jail for three months more.

According to police, the convict had killed the woman on the suspicion that she was trying to create rift between him and her wife.

Meanwhile, the Chontra police recovered body of a man on the Motorway near an overhead bridge joining Chakri and Dheri Friday evening. According to hospital sources, he was shot dead.

The police shifted the body to the District Headquarter Hospital for postmortem and started investigations to identify the body.
