Passengers protest train AC failure

By Our Correspondent

KHANEWAL, June 27: Up to 200 passengers of Lahore-to-Karachi Shalimar Express blocked the rail lines on Friday against the failure of the air-conditioning plant in lower-AC coaches.

Passengers pulled emergency brakes and forced the driver to stop the train at Jahanian railway station.

The technical staff tried to fix the plant but failed to make it functional.

“Almost 200 passengers traveling in the lower-AC coaches in Shalimar Express protested against the rail administration,” Gulzar Ahmad, railway policeman, told Dawn. He said the train stayed at Jehanian for about 45 minutes. Passengers ended the blockade after the rail staff assured them the plant would be made working at Samasatta railway station.
