KOHAT: Kohat Taliban allow 12 more TV channels

KOHAT, June 27: The local Taliban have allowed cable operators to air 12 more TV channels, including a sports channel, raising the total number to 25.

Cable operators’ spokesman Asad told Dawn they had received a message to air more channels, but there was still ban on popular channels.

The Taliban had banned cable transmissions a couple of days ago warning the cable operators of death punishment for their families if they did not follow the decision.

However, after negotiations they allowed 13 channels on Monday.

On Wednesday night, the cable operators received a message from the Taliban that they could air Samaa, Geo Super, Waqt, Iqraa, Business Plus, Animal Planet, CNBC, Disney cartoon and four Virtual University channels.— Correspondent
