Sussex honours Mushtaq Ahmed

LONDON, June 26: English county Sussex bowler Mushtaq Ahmed scooped Contribution to Sussex award for his contribution to the sport in the county.

Presenting the award, Argus managing director Martyn Willis paid tribute to the Pakistan bowler.

“Mushy, as he is known, is much-loved by Sussex CCC supporters and is inspirational character to other players, coaches, supporters, cricket fraternity and county as a whole. He is also very much a respected family man,” Willis said.

“I am proud to announce Mushtaq Ahmed as a very worthy winner of this Argus Achievement Award.” Accepting the award Mushtaq, who powered Sussex to glory in the county championship in 2006 and 2007, said: “Thank you very much to the people who nominated me. I cannot express my feelings.”

He paid tribute to his late father, saying: “I want to say thank you to everybody, especially my team-mates. I always say Sussex is my family club and this is our second home.—Agencies
