HYDERABAD, June 26: The embattled Tando Allahyar District Nazim Dr. Rahila Gul Magsi has said that she would present budgetary estimates for 2008-09 in the district council on Friday. At one stage the situation in the district forced her to give serious thought to shifting venue for presentation of budget, as per provisions of Sindh Local Government Ordinance and the Rules of Business, sources said.

Her supporters had also booked the hall of press club for the purpose but it appeared the idea had been dropped in the wake of her meetings with police officials, said the sources.

The nazim chaired a meeting of Budget Development Committee (BDC) at her residence, which was attended by EDOs of agriculture and other officials.

“The district government’s EDO of community development department remained unavailable till Wednesday because he was forced by the DCO not to attend the BDC meeting,” she alleged.

Banners have been hung at various places in the district against the district nazim, seeking her removal but the president of Tando Allahyar PPP, Zia Abbas Shah, who is son of Sindh Special Education Minister Ali Nawaz Shah Rizvi, distances himself from everything being done against the nazim.
