By Our Reporter
LAHORE, June 26: A private complaint has been filed before an anti-terrorism court against former chief minister Pervaiz Elahi who has been charged with being responsible for the loss of a life in firing on a PML-N’s election office in Gowalmandi.
His former adviser, Haji Hanif, district naib nazim Azeem Hanif and some police officers also have been held accused in the complaint.
Two men were killed and six injured in firing at the election office of PP-142 situated at Raja Ram Street, Railway Road.
Complainant Fayyaz Mahmood said his son Shahzada Armaghan alias Manu Butt had set up an election office of the PML-N. On Feb 17, Azeem Hanif, a PML-Q candidate from the constituency, along with accomplices came there and opened fire, killing his son and a passerby, Alamzeb. The complainant said the incident created panic in the locality.
He alleged that the firing was resorted to at the behest of the former chief minister and his adviser, Haji Hanif.
He alleged Hanif at the behest of Pervaiz Elahi used to give life threats to his son with a demand to close the PML-N election office. He said police were informed about the incident and an application for registration of case was filed, but the police lodged an FIR against some unidentified persons due to the influence of the PML-Q leadership.
