Nine killed in road accidents

MUZAFFARGARH, June 25: Nine people were killed and 21 others injured in two road accidents here on Wednesday.

A van carrying vegetable vendors was coming from Basira when it collided with a truck on Muzaffargarh-Dera Ghazi Khan Road. Four people -- Ashiq Husain, Khuda Bakhsh, Rashid and Mushtaq -- died on spot while 19 others sustained injuries.

The injured people were taken to the DHQ Hospital from where six of them were referred to Nishtar Hospital, Multan. In another incident which occurred at Sarwar Shaheed Chowk, a truck loaded with cement hit a trolley parked along the road. As a result Azam and Riaz, who were sleeping under the trolley, were killed. The trolley was loaded with iron rods which poked into Gul Muhammad, Ismael and Sabir sitting in the truck, killing them on the spot.
