Court temporarily reinstates Salim Altaf

By Our Sports Reporter

LAHORE, June 25: Lahore High Court Justice Akbar Ali Qureshi while admitting the petition of Salim Altaf restored him as PCB director special projects on Wednesday.

Salim filed a petition in the court after he was sacked by PCB chairman Dr Nasim Ashraf on June 12 for leaking sensitive information to the media.

“The impugned order of termination shall remain suspended,” Justice Qureshi said in his interim order.

It means Salim is liable to attend his office till the final decision on his petition.

Salim filed the writ through advocate Aftab Gul who pleaded that the termination was illegal as PCB’s new service rules did not apply on Salim.

Meanwhile, PCB’s lawyer Tafazzul Rizvi said he would file an inter-court appeal against the decision next week as he was going to India on Thursday (today) to appear before the arbitration court to defend Muhammad Yousuf’s case against the Indian Cricket League.

Meanwhile, Salim told Dawn he was happy about the decision and would like to join his office soon after getting the order.
