KARACHI, June 25: Defending champion Saleh Mohammad and reigning national champion Mohammad Sajjad were prominent among those who were through to the knockout pre quarter-finals while former world champion Mohammad Yousuf made an unceremonious exit in the 12th Style Snooker Cup at the Karachi Club on Wednesday.

Both Saleh and Sajjad ended up with a clean slate and topped their respective groups.

Veteran Yousuf was not in his true elements as he lost two of his three group matches to finish third in group ‘H’.

NWFP’s Rambel Gul who tasted a shock 0-6 defeat at the hands of Saleh in the last year’s Style Cup final, also met his waterloo.

Meanwhile, Punjab’s Imran Shehzad, losing finalist of 31st national’s two years back, was the pick of the day as he became the second player to pile up a century break in the contest.

His break of 100 came in the sixth frame of his 68-34, 77-0, 7-61, 38-63, 58-30, 106-0 win over Punjab’s Mohammad Nazir. The win also ensured him a berth in the last 16.

Punjab’s Raees Khan had notched up the first century break (103) against Mohammad Asif Toba on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the knockout pre quarter-finals will be played on Thursday in two sessions.
