620-g stone removed from kidney

LARKANA, June 24: Dr Malik Jalbani of the Chandka Medical College Hospital operated upon a patient on Tuesday and removed a stone weighing 620 grams from his right kidney.

Showing the stone to journalists, Dr Jalbani said Wazeer Ali Jagirani came to him about a week ago with a history of pain. The x-rays showed that he had a big stone in the right kidney.

He said it was quite risky to perform a surgery but he decided to go ahead. After an hour’s procedure he removed the stone under general anaesthesia.

He added that in 2005 a stone weighing 356g was removed from a kidney in Australia which was mentioned in the Guinness Book of World Records.—M. B. Kalhoro
