Corruption case against 2 ex-DSPs, 5 others

By Our Correspondent

MIANWALI, June 24: An embezzlement case has been registered against two former deputy superintendents of traffic police and an incumbent inspector, two head constables, a constable and a clerk of the traffic police office.

The alleged Rs1 million embezzlement by former and incumbent officials came to the fore after Deputy Superintendent of Traffic Police Abdullah Khan received complaints about it. He probed the matter and found that nearly one million rupees collected under the head of traffic fines had not been deposited to the exchequer. The inquiry report was sent to the director of Anti-Corruption Establishment, Punjab, who directed an inspector of his department to investigate the matter again. The inspector investigated the matter and endorsed the previous inquiry, which accused former traffic DSPs Shehzad Khan and Muhammad Riaz Rabana, inspector Tariq Javed Khan, head constables Jehan Khan and Ghulam Raza, constable Faqir Abbas and clerk Saifullah Abid. As a result, a case was registered against them.

However, no accused has been arrested or suspended so far.
