KARACHI: IT training, scholarships


KARACHI, June 24: Sindh Minister for Information Tech-nology Mohammad Raza Haroon has said that 7,000 students would be given IT training and scholarships in first phase of Benazir Youth Development Scheme. This he said while talking to MNA and former Adviser Waseem Akhtar in his office on Tuesday.

Raza Haroon said IT department is taking steps to train the students. At present there are 11 IT Awareness Centers in Karachi and 29 in interior Sindh while 300 computer learning centers would be established in 23 districts. The minister said that 200 acres had been acquired to establish an Internet Media City in Karachi.

He said that though a proposed IT University a large number of youth could be provided with IT education and training. He also welcomed the increase in budget for IT.—PPI
