Ad hoc judge of Kashmir’s SC takes oath

MUZAFFARABAD, June 23: Mohammad Azam Khan, a practising lawyer from Mirpur, took oath as an ad hoc judge of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Supreme Court here on Monday.

The oath was administered to him by apex court’s Chief Justice Reaz Akhtar Chaudhry at the SC building.

The ceremony was attended by law minister Abdul Rashid Abbasi; judges of superior judiciary; high ranking officials, including the chief secretary; and a large number of lawyers.

According to the interim constitution, the AJK Supreme Court consists of three judges, including the chief justice. The strength is already complete, however, the ad hoc judge had been appointed to hear cases in which any of the three permanent judges could not sit on the full bench.—Special Correspondent
