MITHI: Cases against PPP workers withdrawn


MITHI, June 23: The Sindh government has decided to withdraw 23 cases of arson and rioting registered against Pakistan People’s Party activists in Tharparkar district after the assassination of Benazir Bhutto.

An order of the provincial Criminal Prosecution Service Department dated June 14 mentions that 14 FIRs have been registered at Mithi police station, two at Diplo police station, three each at Islamkot and Nagarparkar police stations and one at Chhachhro police station against the PPP activists.

The order further mentions that the government of Sindh with the approval of the competent authority has decided to withdraw the cases under section 494, CrPC.—Correspondent
