HYDERABAD, June 23: An investigation has been initiated into illegal allotment of thousands of acres to feudal lords, capitalist, and favourite people by the previous government with its proof to be made public soon, said Sindh Chief Minister’s Adviser on anti-corruption Gul Mohammad Laat.

Speaking at a reception at Memon Deplai Colony here on Sunday, he said strict action will be taken against people involved and assured that the present government will not condone corrupt practices as a comprehensive strategy was being evolved in this regard. He said no one will escape accountability as the government will come hard over those usurping the rights of people.

He criticized the policies of previous government for depriving poor Tharis of cheap wheat flour by closing down the only flour mills in their area.

“We have faced tyranny of jagirdars and waderas and will keep challenging their clout,” he said as he too, hails from Tharparkar district.

Dr Sajjan Memon and Abdur Razzaq Memon welcomed the adviser.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY: Sindh Minister for Information Technology, Raza Haroon has said that efforts were afoot to introduce modern education and information technology for the benefit of poor people.

He was talking to teachers and students of College of Modern Sciences, Latifabad while visiting the place on Sunday.

He lauded the services of institutions like the College of Modern Sciences, striving to bring about revolutionary changes through modern education.

He said the basic purpose of his visit to Hyderabad was to explore ways and means for the spread of scientific and technological education.

Provincial minister Zubair Ahmed Khan, MQM’s zonal incharge, Mohammad Sharif and other MQM leaders also spoke on the occasion.

Misuse of funds: The management of nation building departments has been directed to restrain their field officers from misuse of public money by making payments for works not carried out on sites or were substandard.

The directive was issued by the Director-General, Chief Minister’s Inspection, Enquiries and Implementation Team, Shafique Hyder Musavi.In a letter issued to all executive officers of Sindh government, he hinted at making surprise visits to sites, either in person or by his team to check irregularities.

He told the people to register their complaints on fax No. 022-9201293 or send it to: The Director General Chief Minister’s Inspection, Enquiries and Implementation Team (Technical Wing) Shahbaz Building, Block-C, First Floor, Hyderabad.

He said whosoever was found guilty of irregularities would be taken to task.

RESULTS: Controller of Examinations (Postgraduate Studies), Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, Jamshoro, here on Monday, announced the results of MS Final (Gynaecology and Obstetrics), MS (Gynaecology and Obstetrics) Basic Medical Sciences paper, Ms (Plastic Surgery) Basic Medical Sciences paper and MSc (Operative Dentistry) Basic Medical Sciences paper, postgraduate degree examinations of April 2008.
