Police claim recovering girl within deadline


BAHAWALPUR, June 22: Sammasatta police claimed to have recovered a college girl on Sunday from Gujrat for whom the Punjab chief minister had set the deadline of 72 hours.

The orders to recover Nasreen, abducted some two months back, were issued on June 19 during a visit to the city by the chief minister. The mother of the kidnapped girl had attempted to meet the Shahbaz Sharif at the Circuit House, but she was allegedly thrashed by an SHO, who was later suspended by the chief minister.

The chief minister had summoned the aggrieved woman to listen to her grievance and ordered the police to recover her daughter within 72 hours.

Police sources said that the culprits involved in the abduction of the girl could not be arrested.

The DPO was unavailable for his comments.

REMISSION: As many as 37 prisoners of the central jail have benefited from the remission granted by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on the occasion of birth anniversary celebrations of the late PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto on Saturday.

Deputy superintendent jail Muhammad Tufail said that 37 inmates were released from the jail on Sunday after the completion of their release orders and other formalities.

HELD: A Multan police team on Sunday claimed they had arrested two employees of the Bahawal Victoria Hospital for their alleged involvement in the medicines theft.

The police had in Multan arrested an accused and recovered from him medicines worth Rs1 million with official seals of BVH a few days back.

The accused told police that he would purchase medicines from some officials of the BVH. The police arrested accused Imran and Munir. — Correspondent
