KARACHI: ‘Rs90m CHK development project near completion’
KARACHI, June 22: Sindh Health Minister Dr Saghir Ahmed has said that the development project being executed at the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) at a cost of Rs90 million is in its final stage of completion.
The project envisages upgrading of cardiac unit, gastro investigation unit, gynae I, II and III, surgical units IV and V and plastic surgery unit, besides installation of modern lifts for the urology unit.
The minister visited various sections of the hospital and had a detail review of the ongoing schemes, launched under the annual development programme, in his meeting with CHK Medical Superintendent Prof Mohammed Saeed Qureshi, Principal of the Dow Medical University Dr Salahuddin Azfar on Sunday. Project director of the accident & emergency section and the Ancillary Services Complex were also present.
During the inspection of various uplift schemes, the minister expressed his indignation over the performance of an engineer and called for proper attention to planning and quality of work.
He noted two new venti-
lators were being provided to the cardiac care unit for heart patients.
While visiting the paediatric ward, the minister directed Dr Azfar to ensure availability of ICU facility to the serious cases needing paediatric surgery. Dr Saghir also asked him and make sure that the patients admitted or coming to the paediatric ward’s ICU were getting medicines from within the ICU.
He also directed the CHK medical superintendent to ensure continuous supply of medicines to all the wards and patients’ easy access to them.
The minister issued directives to the officials concerned to ensure round-the-clock availability of professors, assistant professors and consultants at the “Emergency On Call Unit”, and said that orders be issued by the relevant officials in this regard. He issued similar directives for the RMOs of the emergency ward.
Dr Saghir also took a round of the paediatric emergency ward, diarrhoea unit, cardiac surgery ward, medical II and V sections and surgical wards I and II.—APP
