GILGIT, June 21: Khurshid Alam has been posted as Inspector General Police Northern Areas, a notification issued on Saturday said.

Earlier, Deputy Inspector General Police Farman Ali was looking after as caretaker IG Police, whose services were extended for one year after his retirement.

Meanwhile, newly appointed Chief Secretary Babar Yaqoob Fateh Mohammad assumed charge of his new office on Saturday.

After assumption of charge he held introductory meetings with staff and senior officers as well as administrative secretaries. On this occasion he was given briefing about a number of things including departments and its affairs.—APP
