Bacaradi set to bounce back with a bang

By Anwar Zuberi

KARACHI, June 21: Four-year-old dark bay filly Bacaradi looks poised to reassert her prowess should she land the supporting event in the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

She has proved her potential by making it two on a trot twice this season before being beaten by Desert Hawk by four-and-a-half lengths on June 1.

Drawn alongside six contenders barring last minute withdrawals in the class VI fifth race to be run over five furlongs, she starts as our days best and looks certain to cross the winning post ahead of the entire field.

Her likely challenger on the basis of recent track record is seven-year-old bay Manan Prince who is likely to give her a tough time.

After two successive withdrawals, eight-year-old chestnut Desert Hawk has again entered the day’s feature event as

favourite.

He was public fancy in the last two outings but was deprived to make an impact. First he was withdrawn on June 8 owing to his owner’s close relative’s death while in the next meeting on June 15 he was compelled to withdraw due to colic and his entry was stopped for 15 days.

The appearance of Desert Hawk as acceptor after a week is a clear violation and needs an explanation from the KRC racing committee.

Six-year-old bay Bharosa and four-year-old colt The Ghazan Prince come in reckoning for

places.

Three-year-old speedy colt Speed Of Arab is in line to make it two-in-a-row should he pick up the spoils in the top division of class VII.

He edged past Dilruba by three-quarter-of-a-length last weekend and is tipped to repeat the feat.

He is likely to be chased by colt Remy Martin, formerly Hinglachi, and filly Baby John for the places.

If tried, mare Royal Loyalty should make amends by claiming the opener. She should be followed by Faith and Shah Sawar. Also in the run is Al Zarrar who has come down to last division and can win any time.

Filly Love Pakistan and bay Lucky Gem may claim the honours in the remaining two races.
